Following Telecommunications Standards @ DU:
The University of Denver has been adhering to a variety of industry telecommunications wiring standards for several years. In the past decade, the campus has witnessed a growth to over 25,000+ wired telecommunications station outlets. These adopted standards have helped to position the University for future technologies as they emerge.
Below are some of the many organizations that have contributed to this effort:
- BICSI: www.bisci.org
BICSI's mission is to enhance the telecommunications industry by providing excellent education, promoting skill sharing, and assessing knowledge with professional registration programs.
-
Communications, Life Safety, and Automation Design Institute (CLADI): www.cladi.org (the website is maintained by the BICSI organization)
CLADI was created in 2004 to serve the communications, life safety, and automation (CLA) industries. Although the term CLA is relatively new, the various industries are not. In fact, CLA systems are established and essential elements in the life of a modern commercial building.

Specifications Institute (CSI):
www.csinet.org
CSI is an association of 17,000 individual members in the U.S. non-residential building design and construction industry. Members include specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and building owners. The mission is to continuously improve the process of non-residential building design and construction. CSI strives to help everyone involved in that process to work together smarter. How? By fostering clear communication among everybody on the project team. The communications channels we focus on are the written construction documents – how they’re written and how their content is organized.
-
Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA): www.tiaonline.org
TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop voluntary industry standards for a wide variety of telecommunications products. TIA's Standards and Technology Department is composed of five divisions which sponsor more than 70 standards-setting formulating groups. The committees and subcommittees sponsored by the five divisions ? Fiber Optics, User Premises Equipment, Network Equipment, Wireless Communications and Satellite Communications ? formulate standards to serve the industry and users well into the next century
